Process that concept for a second and then let's talk about Buona Forchetta's delicious food.

My friend and former co-worker has been raving about a little Italian place in South Park that I needed to try, for the blog of course. So on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, we met up to catch up and devour some cheesy goodness. 

Your Pizza Haven Awaits

Buona Forchetta is located in South Park.

Since it was mid-day during the week, we were promptly seated.

Pro Tip: from what I hear (and I have witnessed this as well, walking by once), this place gets poppin' for dinner, especially on weekends so plan ahead accordingly. 

The first thing I noticed on the menu was 'Pizza in a Jar'. Although we didn't order it, I need to come back and try it out. The reviews left on Yelp speak for themselves, it's a cool twist on pizza with fried dough, burrata, and sauce.  To be tasted next time!

We opted for the Regina Margherita (one of my friend's favorites) and the Sottoterra salad. Everything was delizioso (pardon my horrible Italian)!

Sottoterra Salad

The salad featured colorful carrots and fennel, soft goat cheese, greens and some onion. Sprinkled with some fresh pepper at our table, and tossed in a creamy but light dressing, it was salad heaven.

When the pizza arrived my eyes probably enlarged to the size of golf balls. You always know when you're at a solid Italian restaurant by how they cook their pizza. Buona Forchetta uses a Stefano Ferrara oven which can withstand temperatures ranging from 700-1000 degrees Fahrenheit to cook the pies. Read more about their oven here, I found it quite interesting!

The Main Event

Regina Margherita Pizza

Simplicity is not overrated, and this pie is the perfect example. Featuring fresh tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala cheese, basil and a sprinkle of fresh parmesan on top, this pizza melted right in your mouth. 

The crust was fluffy on the outside but overall thinner. You could taste the freshness and it lacked the grease most other parlors serve. 

It was love at first bite.

Leftovers: Still Good the Next Day

Overall, our experience was great. I would love to see the place at night as I'm sure the ambiance during the day was a little dull because it didn't have the twinkling lights and bustle of people from the surrounding restaurants and bars. 

We didn't end up finishing the whole pie ourselves (there was one measly slice left). So naturally, I took it home so I could eat it as a snack several hours later.
