Easy Vegan Pizza Recipe
Overall Rating = 🍕🍕🍕🍕 (4/5)
Don’t get me wrong, I love cheese. But lately, I've been trying to eat a more plant-based diet, so I decided to give an easy vegan pizza recipe a try. The best part: You only need a handful of ingredients to make this delicious vegan pizza recipe.
You could also make the pizza without cheese if vegan cheese isn’t your thing. I’ll get more into my thoughts on the taste/texture of vegan cheese later — but if you aren’t a hardcore vegan or you’re a vegetarian, skipping the cheese or opting for real cheese could be a better option.
Homemade vegan pizza sauce ingredients:
Makes 2 servings
1 can of tomato sauce — 8 ounces
1 teaspoon of minced garlic
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
Pizza ingredients:
Makes 2 servings
2 personal pizza rounds (I used Kontos pizza parlor crust from Sprouts Farmers Market)
Homemade pizza sauce (ingredients listed above)
1 Roma tomato
1/2 cup vegan cheese (I used Daiya mozzarella-style cheese)
1/2 cup spinach leaves
A few fresh basil leaves
Cooking instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
Make the sauce: mix tomato sauce, garlic and Italian seasoning in a bowl
Slice Roma tomato
Take 2 pizza rounds and place on a baking sheet (no need to grease the baking sheet)
Put the desired amount of sauce on each pizza round (I split the sauce half and half and it worked perfectly)
Sprinkle 1/4 cup cheese (or more if you’d like!) on each pizza round
Layer spinach and then 1/2 Roma tomato on each pie
Top with 1-2 basil leaves
Cook pizza for 8-10 minutes
Enjoy!!
Does vegan pizza taste good?
So, you might be wondering, what did the vegan pizza actually taste like? Honestly, I thought it was pretty good! The plant-based cheese was the only thing I found to taste a little odd. The consistency was a little chewier than regular mozzarella cheese and it didn’t have as much flavor. But it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. The best part about this easy vegan pizza recipe is that you can easily remove the cheese altogether for a cheeseless vegan pizza, or you could swap out regular mozzarella cheese for a vegetarian option.
The next time you’re in the mood for a healthier pizza, give this simple vegan recipe a try!
Have you tried vegan cheese or another vegan pizza I should try to make? Let me know! I’m going to experiment with making a few different varieties this summer. Until next time, happy pizza eating!
