Overall Rating = 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 (5/5)
Another cauliflower pizza crust review comin’ in hot! This time I tried Outer Aisle pizza crust — which just happens to be low-carb, keto-friendly and damn delicious. If you’re looking for a gluten-free and grain-free option that will satisfy your deepest pizza cravings, you should give Outer Aisle pizza crust a try. Read on for my review and simple recipe using the crust!
My quest for a healthier slice continues — but I will not sacrifice taste when it comes to eating pizza — because that would be a sin. So when Outer Aisle offered to send me a few samples of their pizza crust, I thought why not? Another pizza to try? Count me in.
Usually claims like “low-carb,” “keto certified,” “nothing artificial” and “no flour” would make me run the other direction: This couldn’t possibly taste good, right? Well, I’m happy to report I was wrong because this cauliflower pizza crust is amazing!
Is Outer Aisle pizza crust healthy?
Before we get into the good stuff (which always includes cheese), I’ll do a quick recap of the nutrition stats — which thoroughly impressed me. The ingredient list is simple:
Fresh cauliflower
Whole, cage-free eggs
Parmesan cheese
Pure nutritional yeast
Spices: garlic, basil & oregano
That’s it! Can you believe it? What’s more, each pizza crust clocks in at only 120 calories. Yes, please. Beyond calories, each crust has 6 grams of fat (3 from saturated), 4 carbs (1 gram of fiber) and a whopping 10 grams of protein! And every Outer Aisle pizza crust is gluten-free making them a great choice for people with gluten sensitivities or Celiac disease. As long as you don’t dump a pound of cheese on this crust, you should be in pretty good shape nutrition-wise!
How does Out Aisle pizza crust taste?
Like heaven. It’s important to follow the cooking instructions because I have a feeling if you cook it on a baking sheet, it could get mushy. I baked mine on a pizza stone and it turned out pretty crispy on the outside. It was a little soft toward the middle of the crust, but I blame my janky pizza stone (I’ve had other bad experiences, but I don’t want to talk about that right now.)
You can definitely tell the crust is flourless — let’s be honest — I know when I’m eating real pizza dough or an alternative crust. But it was seasoned lightly and tasted fresh. I definitely felt zero guilt after demolishing the entire thing.
Broccoli and goat cheese pizza recipe featuring Outer Aisle pizza crust
Currently, Outer Aisle sells two different kinds of pizza crusts: Italian and Jalapeno. I opted to make this pie with the Italian. I will be back with a Mexican-style pizza recipe using the jalapeno!
This pizza is super easy to make and it’s sauceless so if you don’t like tomatoes, this one’s for you! However, if you don’t like broccoli … you’re out of luck.
Ingredients:
2 Outer Aisle pizza crusts — Italian flavor
2 small heads of broccoli
2 ounces of honey goat cheese (I usually buy Crooked Creek from Sprouts)
2 teaspoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of minced garlic
Honey to drizzle (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Wash and chop broccoli into small pieces, discard the stalks
Place broccoli on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes
Turn the oven up to 425 degrees
Place both Outer Aisle pizza crusts on a pizza stone (or you can place them directly on the rack when they’re ready to go into the oven)
Drizzle 1 teaspoon of olive oil onto each crust, spread evenly
Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic on each crust
Top with roasted broccoli
Bake for 6 minutes
Remove from the oven and dollop 1 ounce of goat cheese on each pizza
Bake for another 2-3 minutes to warm the cheese
Remove from the oven and drizzle honey on top if you’d like (10/10 would recommend)
Enjoy!
We also made a side of sautéed vegetables to complement the pizza (the more veggies, the better, am I right?).
Where can you buy Outer Aisle pizza crusts?
Check out their store locator on their site — most natural food stores carry them! P.S. Outer Aisle also makes sandwich thins which are just as good and bite sized! I will be making mini-pizzas in the near future with them!
